Frequently Asked Questions — VVSANDBETTER™
What clarity do you use?
VVS or better. Every stone, every set, no exceptions. That is the standard the brand is built on and we do not run a lower tier underneath it. Natural diamond, lab-grown diamond, or moissanite — whichever you choose, the stones are VVS clarity or above and hand-matched for color and cut so the whole face of the set reads clean instead of patchy.
Colors are D, E, F (colorless). We do not set warm or tinted stones.
What stones do you work with?
- Natural diamond — earth-mined, VVS clarity or better, D–F color.
- Lab-grown diamond — chemically and optically identical to mined stones, same hardness, graded on the same scale, VVS only.
- Moissanite — a real gemstone at 9.25 on the Mohs scale with more light return than diamond. VVS quality only.
We do not use cubic zirconia, crystal, or any simulant.
What metals do you offer?
Every set is cast in solid metal. Nothing we make is plated brass or a pre-made shell.
- Solid gold — 10K, 14K and 18K, in yellow, white or rose.
- Solid .925 sterling silver — for a first set or a lower entry price without dropping to fake metal.
Do you offer plating on silver grillz?
Yes. A solid sterling silver set can be left plain, or finished in:
- Rhodium white — a bright white finish that resists tarnish
- Yellow gold plating
- Rose gold plating
Plating sits on top of solid silver, not on brass or steel. It is a finish option on a real metal set, and it lets you get the look of gold at a silver price. Plating wears over time with daily use and can be redone.
What’s the difference between 10K, 14K, and 18K gold?
Gold purity is measured in karats (K), which tells you how much pure gold is in the metal compared to the other alloys mixed in.
- 10K gold (41.7% pure) — the hardest and most affordable of the three. Slightly lighter in tone. Popular for grillz that get worn every day.
- 14K gold (58.3% pure) — the balance point between color and durability, and the most common choice for grillz.
- 18K gold (75% pure) — the deepest, richest gold color and the best tarnish resistance. A softer metal, so it suits statement sets more than heavy daily wear.
All three are available on any set. If you are not sure which fits how you plan to wear it, text us and we will talk it through.

Do you offer GIA-certified diamonds?
Yes, on natural diamond orders where the stone is large enough to qualify. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the most trusted authority on diamond grading, but certification is only issued for diamonds 0.30 carats and larger. Most stones set into a grill sit below that size, so certification applies to larger single-stone or feature work rather than a fully iced set. Ask us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it applies to what you are building.

Return & review policy
Because every set is cut to one person’s mouth, all sales at VVSANDBETTER™ are final. That said, every case is different. If something is wrong with your order, reach out — we would rather fix it than have you wear something you are not happy with.
Understanding diamond clarity
Diamond clarity refers to the presence of inclusions (internal flaws) and blemishes (external imperfections). The industry scale runs:
FL (Flawless) / IF (Internally Flawless) — extremely rare, no inclusions visible under 10x magnification.
VVS1 / VVS2 (Very Very Slightly Included) — our floor. This is where VVSANDBETTER™ starts. Inclusions are nearly impossible to see even under magnification.
VS1 / VS2 (Very Slightly Included) — slight inclusions, hard to see with the naked eye. Common in the market. We do not set them.
SI1 / SI2 (Slightly Included) — more noticeable inclusions that dull brilliance. We do not set them.
I1 / I2 / I3 (Included) — visible inclusions that affect both sparkle and durability. We do not set them.

Understanding diamond color
Diamond color is graded from D (colorless) to Z (noticeably yellow or brown).
- D, E, F (Colorless) — what we use.
- G, H, I, J (Near Colorless) — still a good stone, with a touch of warmth. Not what we set.
- K–Z (Noticeable Color) — not used at VVSANDBETTER™.
Why choose VVSANDBETTER™?
Because the standard does not move. Every set is cut from your own dental impression, cast in solid metal, hand-set with VVS-or-better stones, and finished in Houston by the people who answer the phone. If something is wrong, you talk to the person who made it.
