Frequently Asked Questions – Vvsandbetter™

What’s the Difference Between 10K, 14K, and 18K Gold?

Gold purity is measured in karats (K), which indicates how much pure gold is in the metal compared to other alloys. Here’s a breakdown of each type:

  • 10K Gold (41.7% Pure Gold) – The most durable and affordable option, containing 41.7% pure gold and 58.3% alloy metals. It has a slightly lighter gold tone and is excellent for daily wear due to its strength.
  • 14K Gold (58.3% Pure Gold) – A perfect balance between purity and durability, made of 58.3% pure gold and 41.7% alloy metals. It has a richer color than 10K and is the best choice for grillz due to its strength and reduced risk of tarnishing.
  • 18K Gold (75% Pure Gold) – A higher-end option containing 75% pure gold and 25% alloy metals. It has a deeper gold color and offers excellent resistance to tarnishing, making it another great choice for grillz and luxury jewelry.

Why Should Grillz Only Be Made in 14K or 18K Gold?

Grillz are worn inside the mouth, where they come into contact with saliva and moisture, which can lead to tarnishing if the gold is too low in purity. 10K gold, while strong, contains more alloys that may react with moisture and cause discoloration over time.

At Vvsandbetter™, we only make our custom grillz in 14K or 18K gold to ensure:

  • A richer color and luxury appearance.
  • Better resistance to tarnishing and corrosion.
  • A comfortable and safe fit with minimal risk of irritation.
  • Free re-fits if your grillz do not fit perfectly.

Can I Get Jewelry in 10K Gold?

Yes! 10K gold is still a great choice for jewelry like chains, rings, and bracelets, especially for those looking for a durable and more affordable option. While we recommend 14K or 18K for grillz, 10K is still widely used for everyday jewelry pieces due to its strength and long-lasting wear.

Do You Use VVS Diamonds in Custom Jewelry?

Absolutely. All custom orders at Vvsandbetter™, including grillz, pendants, and rings, are only made with VVS clarity, colorless diamonds (D, E, F color) to uphold our brand standards.

We refuse to compromise on quality, ensuring that every custom piece reflects the highest level of craftsmanship and brilliance.

What About Your Ready-to-Ship Jewelry Collection?

While our custom jewelry is exclusively made with VVS clarity, colorless diamonds, our ready-to-ship collection consists of pieces that feature VS+ clarity diamonds, meaning VS or better. These diamonds still maintain exceptional brilliance and quality, making them an excellent choice for those looking for high-end jewelry without full custom pricing.

Do You Offer GIA-Certified Diamonds?

Yes, we offer GIA-certified diamonds for custom jewelry orders. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the world’s most trusted authority on diamond grading, ensuring each certified stone meets the highest industry standards. However, GIA certification is only available for diamonds 0.30 carats and larger. If you want a GIA-certified diamond in your custom order, the stones must be large enough to qualify for certification. Contact us for more details on size requirements and availability.

Understanding Diamond Clarity (With Illustrations)

Diamond clarity refers to the presence of inclusions (internal flaws) and blemishes (external imperfections). Here’s a breakdown of the clarity grades:

FL (Flawless) / IF (Internally Flawless) – Extremely rare with no visible inclusions under 10x magnification.

VVS1 / VVS2 (Very Very Slightly Included)Custom jewelry standard at Vvsandbetter™. Very minimal inclusions, nearly impossible to see even under magnification.

VS1 / VS2 (Very Slightly Included)Used in our ready-to-ship jewelry. Slight inclusions that are difficult to see with the naked eye but still maintain high brilliance.

SI1 / SI2 (Slightly Included) – More noticeable inclusions, affecting brilliance slightly.

I1 / I2 / I3 (Included) – Visible inclusions that impact durability and sparkle.

Understanding Diamond Color (With Illustrations)

Diamond color is graded from D (colorless) to Z (noticeably yellow or brown).

  • D, E, F (Colorless) – Used in our custom jewelry. The highest-quality diamonds with no noticeable color.
  • G, H, I, J (Near Colorless) – Sometimes found in VS+ jewelry. Still a great option with minimal warmth.
