Live Video Fitting: A Jeweler Is On The Call While You Take Your Mold

The part nobody else does

Every other grillz company mails you a kit and a link to a video. We get on a live video call with you and watch you take the impression.

That is the whole difference. Not a better kit, not a better tutorial — a jeweler on the other end of the phone, looking at your mouth and your tray, telling you in the moment whether you got it or whether you need to go again.

It is also the only honest way to guarantee a fit by mail. Everybody else is guessing at the mold and finding out three weeks later. We find out in ninety seconds.

How the call actually goes

  1. Your kit arrives. Impression trays, putty, printed instructions and a prepaid FedEx return label, all in the box.
  2. You call or text 281-572-6159 to set up the video. FaceTime or Instagram video, whichever you already use.
  3. A jeweler joins and checks your setup first — light, camera angle, that you have everything out of the box and ready before anything gets mixed.
  4. You mix and seat the tray while they watch. This is the part that goes wrong on your own: too little putty, tray seated crooked, pulled too early, not pushed far enough back.
  5. They look at the impression on camera. You get a straight answer — that one is good, or that one is not, do the second tray.
  6. It goes back in the prepaid envelope and we start cutting.

You need a phone, decent light and about ten minutes of not being interrupted. That is it.

Sometimes there are six people on the call

When we are busy, video fittings run as group calls — six or more customers on at once, each with their own kit, going through it together while a jeweler works the room.

It sounds chaotic. It is actually the best version of it, for a reason we did not plan: you get to watch other people do it before it is your turn. You see someone seat a tray crooked and get told to redo it. You see what a good impression looks like on camera. By the time it is your turn you already know what you are aiming at, and first-time success goes up, not down.

People also bring their own group. Brothers ordering matching sets, a couple doing tops and bottoms, a whole team getting fitted the same week. We will put you on together if you ask.

If you would rather do yours one-on-one, say so when you book and we will do that instead. Nobody gets put in a group call without agreeing to it.

This is what it looks like from your side

A real call, mid-impression. The tray is seated, the putty is setting, and a jeweler is on the other end watching it happen. Hover or tap the markers.

A VVSANDBETTER live video fitting call in progress: the customer holds their phone while the impression tray sets, with the VVSANDBETTER jeweler tile in the corner of the call Live Tray seated, putty setting. This is the exact moment a jeweler needs eyes on — too early or too late and the mold is wasted. That is us on the call. A real jeweler from the bench, not a chatbot and not a tutorial link. Two minutes forty-two in. Most fittings are done inside ten.

What you are looking at

No studio, no setup, no appointment at a shop

Your kitchen, your bathroom mirror, your phone in one hand. That is the whole production. The only difference between this and every other grillz company is that somebody who actually builds the set is watching you do it.

  • Free — it is part of your order, not an upsell
  • FaceTime or Instagram video, whichever you already use
  • About ten minutes
  • A second tray is in the box if the first one is no good

Why this matters more than any other thing on this site

A grill is built on the impression. Everything downstream — the fit, how it sounds when you talk, whether it grips or rocks — is decided by that one tray of putty. A perfect $9,000 set built on a bad mold is a bad set.

The failure mode with mail-order grillz is not bad metalwork. It is that the shop never saw the mold being taken, built on whatever arrived, and shipped something that does not sit right. Then you are arguing about a refit by email.

Watching you do it removes the guesswork at the only point in the process where guesswork is fatal.

It matters most for the mouths other shops turn away

Crooked teeth, gaps, missing teeth, chips, teeth that sit at different depths — these are exactly the mouths where a self-taken impression goes wrong, and exactly the mouths other companies would rather not deal with. They are also the mouths where a custom set does the most visible work.

We build for them every week, and the video call is how. More on grillz for missing, crooked and gapped teeth.

In Houston? Skip all of it

If you can get to the shop at 300 Sharpstown Center, we take the mold in person and you never touch putty yourself. Book an appointment. Permanent grillz are in-person only — call 281-572-6159.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do the video call?

No, the kit has printed instructions and you can do it alone. We would rather you did not. The call is free, it takes about ten minutes, and it is the difference between us guaranteeing your fit and us hoping.

What do I need for the call?

A phone with FaceTime or Instagram, decent light, and your kit opened with everything laid out. Do not mix the putty before the jeweler is on.

How do I book it?

Call or text 281-572-6159 once your kit arrives. Tell us if you want a one-on-one or if you are happy on a group call.

What is a group call like?

Six or more customers on one video, each with their own kit, a jeweler moving between everyone. You watch the people ahead of you, which is genuinely the fastest way to learn it. Ask for one-on-one if you would rather.

What if my impression is no good?

The jeweler tells you on the call, and you use the second tray. That is why there is more than one in the box. Better to find out in the moment than three weeks later.

Does this actually guarantee the fit?

Every order is covered by our refit and refund policy. The video call is why we can offer that on a mail order at all — we have seen the mold being taken, so we are not building on an unknown.

Do you do this for every set?

Every mail order, at any price. A single tooth gets the same call as a full 8-on-8.

Ready to get fitted?

Order a set and your mold kit ships the same day. Or talk to a jeweler first — you will speak to someone who actually builds these.
