How Custom Grillz Are Priced | Gold Weight, Stones & Labour | VVSANDBETTER

Most jewelers give you one number and leave it there. We would rather show you how the number is built, because once you understand gold weight, stone grade and setting labour, you can tell a fair quote from a bad one — here or anywhere else.

The build

Four stages, and each one carries cost

01

Wax

Your set is built in wax first, tooth by tooth, off your impression. This is where the fit is decided and where design cuts are shaped.

02

Casting

The wax is invested and burned out, then gold is melted and cast into the cavity it leaves behind. Gold weight is set at this stage.

03

Setting

Every stone is set individually by hand. Honeycomb, galaxy, hybrid and invisible settings each take a different amount of bench time.

04

Finish

Polishing, quality control and a final fit check before it ships. This is the difference between a set that looks cast and a set that looks made.

Stage 01

This is 30 seconds of a real set in wax

Not a render, not a stock clip. Every tooth is carved and sprued by hand before a gram of gold is melted. This is the stage a lot of jewelers mess up — and it is the stage that decides whether the finished set actually fits.

The biggest variable

How gold weight affects your price

Gold is sold by weight, so the heavier your set, the more it costs — before a single stone is set. Here is roughly what a tooth weighs.

Solid, no stones0.5–0.8gper tooth

A plain solid set is the lightest thing we make. 10K sits at the bottom of that range and 14K at the top — 14K is a denser alloy and carries more actual gold, so the same tooth weighs more, costs more, and holds a deeper colour.

10K with stones~1.5gper tooth
14K with stones~1.7gper tooth

Stones need metal around them. A setting has to hold each stone securely and survive years of being taken in and out, so a stone-set tooth carries more gold than a plain one before you have paid for a single diamond.

Jumbo & heavy custom2g+per tooth, and up

Jumbos, invisible settings, hybrid settings and fully flooded sets all add weight — partly for the look, partly for the structure needed to hold the stones. On a full set that difference compounds fast, especially when the gold market moves.

These are estimated averages. Every set is custom made, and real weight varies with tooth size, shape, spacing and the design you choose.

The rest of the number

Gold weight is only one part

Gold weight & purity

10K, 14K, 18K, 22K or silver — priced against the live gold market on the day.

Stone quality

Natural diamond by clarity, CVD lab diamond or moissanite. This is the widest price range on the whole order.

Wax & design work

Carving the set to your impression, plus any custom cuts before it ever gets cast.

Casting & finishing

Investment, burnout, casting, cleanup and fitting the raw cast back to the model.

Stone setting

Hand-set, one stone at a time. An invisible set takes many times the bench hours of a honeycomb.

Polish & QC

Final polish, inspection and fit check. Every set is looked at before it leaves.

Why we publish this

A price you can check is a price you can trust

Most people shopping for grillz have been burned once already, usually by a number that was never explained. Breaking it into gold, stones, labour and finishing means you can compare quotes honestly — and it means we have to stand behind ours.

If a quote you get somewhere else is far below everything you have seen, ask what karat, what stone grade and what setting. The answer is almost always in one of those three.

Get a real number for your set

Tell us the teeth, the karat and the stones and we will price it out — no deposit to get a quote.
